You can’t teach successfully and authentically as a teacher unless you recognize that the power to learn belongs to the students and the power to teach belongs to you.

How do you teach authentically and live successfully as a teacher without worries?

You do that in so many ways; by deploying different active teaching, learning skills and practices.

1.      Quit the driver’s seat and let your learners drive 

       This sounds tough and sometimes we ask ourselves how? Whatever, it is doable. We all know what happens in driving lessons, right.  By quitting the seat, a teacher needs to step aside and leave the stage for the learners to learn by themselves. As they drive this learning vehicle, be there as a guide, simple.

There is no doubt they will meet obstacles, potholes and gallops on the way but I promise you they will surmount. Why? Because they have the brain that can think. They are not morons but active individuals capable of meaningful constructions. By quitting the seat, it means you are giving away your power to learners. No more Superman. This will help to build trust because they now know that you believe in them.

Not only that; it will also help you to teach with ease. Give your learners time for meaningful struggle. All they just need is support, not you doing the job for them.

  See, sometimes do not bother with the how, just get the why and you are good to go.
